Acoustic Removal

Tired of the "Old, Outdated" popcorn ceilings? (Also known as Cottage Cheese Ceilings) For a more modern, up to date look, have your acoustic ceilings removed and retextured.

The Process:

Step One: In preparation, the homeowner is responsible for removing the following items from the affected areas, to include, but not limited to: all wall hangings including pictures and mirrors. Other items that need to be removed will be plants, books from the bookshelves, end tables and lamps, nightstands, toys, chairs, coffee tables, and all breakables and collectibles. Draperies or chandeliers that protected with mover's blankets or quilts. Heavy furniture will be moved by the crew with their discretion. Crew is not responsible for breakage or damage to any items that were not removed or covered properly as outlined above. Additional charges will be assessed for labor/time which is spent moving such items that the homeowner did not move.

If standard size closets are included, all items must be removed off the top shelf and stored in an area not affected by a acoustic job. Floor to ceiling closet doors must be removed prior to start of job. Walk-in closets. Items left hanging in closets will be protected with a plastic sheathing.

We do not guarantee the preservation of wallpaper or borders. The acoustic removal process may damage the top perimeter of paper or borders.

Step Two: To insure minimal dust transfer, the crew will affix a plastic barrier to all areas affected, also known as masking. Each room is sealed to contain the debris removed from scraping of the ceiling acoustic.

Step Three: We wet the acoustic down and then scrape it off.

Step Four: Subsequent to removal, all existing joints & nails are to be coated & sanded in preparation for texture application.

Acoustic Skim

This process is necessary if the acoustic ceilings were initially applied over plaster instead of drywall. This process is timelier: therefore the labor costs are higher. We scrape the tips off all existing plaster acoustic. Subsequent to removal, all ceiling surfaces are to be plaster coated with two or three coats to achieve surface suitable for texture application.
